If I try to enter the non-existent directory, mms freezes. PS: Couldn't you add an option to hide dotfiles? I am using autofs to mount removable devices with a specified timeout.

The help should explain what the feature/plugin is good for, were it is configured and which bottons it uses (like the menu in Audio fx, but with much more informations). And maybe the URL to the Wiki. It would be nice to implement it like a plugin so one can install/remove it. But there are more possibilities. In my system zen2mms I use the integrated mediaplayer of vdr/xinelibout for playing movies. In comparision with cxfe this approach has the big advantage, that the use-interface for playing movies in mms and/or vdr are the same. At the moment, I use a bash script to set a logical link to the selected mms-movie and to start the movie in vdr via the special keys send by netcat to vdr. This task could also be done via a new mms-player plugin "xineliboutput". This plugin has to define a file /etc/plugins/xineliboutput/default-playlist" which links logically to the selected mms-movie (see description of xineliboutput). Then the xineliboutput-frontend (vdr-fbfe or vdr-sxfe) has to be started and the keystrokes "red" and "4" have to be sent via svdrpsend to vdr. I´m not familiar with C-Programming, but this request should be easyly implemented by for an experienced programmer.

Indeed, when trying to activated another one from the config file it creates a lot of troubles. Also, it's useless since the xv output is selected when a DISPLAY variable is set.
